All three materials exhibit high compressive strength suitable for construction:

• Concrete: compressive strength typically 20–60 MPa (higher with reinforcement)
• Granite: unconfined compressive strength 130–250 MPa — excellent dimension stone
• Steel: yield strength 250–690 MPa in both compression and tension

Steel is unique in having high tensile strength as well, complementing concrete (weak in tension) in reinforced concrete structures.
