An RF isolator (a two-port ferrite circulator with one port terminated) is a non-reciprocal device that passes forward signals with low insertion loss while absorbing reverse-travelling (reflected) signals in its termination. It protects amplifiers and oscillators from load impedance variations and reflected power that could cause instability or damage.
