Archaea share some features with prokaryotes (no nucleus, no membrane-bound organelles) and some with eukaryotes (similar RNA polymerase, histones, introns). However, they also possess novel, unique features — such as ether-linked membrane lipids (isoprene-based), unique cell wall chemistry (pseudopeptidoglycan or none), and unique rRNA sequences — not found in other domains.
