Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae causes bacterial leaf blight (BLB) of rice, one of the most serious rice diseases worldwide. It enters through water pores (hydathodes) and causes yellowing and wilting of leaves. Alternaria causes brown spot; Erwinia causes soft rot in vegetables.
