In a haplontic life cycle, the dominant phase is haploid (n) and the diploid phase is transient (only the zygote is diploid). Ustilago (a smut fungus) has a haplontic cycle. Wheat is diplontic. Funaria and Polytrichum (mosses) have a haplo-diplontic cycle with the haploid gametophyte dominant.
