Hyperthermophilic, acidophilic organisms (living at very high temperatures and very low pH) are found among Eubacteria (e.g., Thermus aquaticus, Sulfolobus) and Archaea (e.g., Thermococcus, Picrophilus). Such extreme environments are called extreme acidothermophilic habitats. Archaea are particularly well-adapted to extreme conditions.
