Abd al-Rahman I (AD-Dakhil) was the first Muslim ruler of Spain, establishing the Emirate of Córdoba in 756 CE. He was an Umayyad prince who escaped the Abbasid massacre and reached Spain, where he established Umayyad rule that lasted for centuries, making Córdoba a center of learning and culture.
