Hazrat Ja'far ibn Abi Talib (RA), also known as Ja'far at-Tayyar (the one who flies), was martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah (Moota) in 8 AH (629 CE). He led the Muslim army after the martyrdom of Zaid bin Haritha (RA). Despite losing both arms, he held the flag with his body until martyred. The Prophet (PBUH) said Allah gave him wings to fly in Paradise.
