The Battle of Badr is also called Ghazwa-e-Furqan (the Battle of Criterion) because it was the first major battle between Muslims and disbelievers, clearly distinguishing truth from falsehood. Fought on 17 Ramadan 2 AH (624 CE), this battle was a decisive victory for Muslims despite being outnumbered 3:1. Allah helped Muslims with angels, and this victory established the credibility of Islam and the Muslim community in Arabia.
