Qazaf is the Islamic legal term for falsely accusing a chaste person of adultery or fornication. It is a serious crime in Islamic law (Hudud). The punishment for Qazaf is 80 lashes (as prescribed in Surah An-Nur 24:4) and the rejection of the accuser's testimony unless they bring four witnesses. This strict requirement protects people's honor and reputation. The only exception is Li'an, where a husband can accuse his wife under specific procedures with serious consequences.
