According to Islamic jurisprudence, Zakat can be used for mosque construction under certain conditions, though this is debated among scholars. The eight categories of Zakat recipients mentioned in the Quran (9:60) are: the poor, the needy, Zakat administrators, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, freeing slaves, debtors, in the cause of Allah, and travelers.
