Notifiable diseases are those legally required to be reported to public health authorities for surveillance and control. In Pakistan, under the Epidemic Diseases Act and the National Health Regulations, the following are notifiable:

• Cholera
• Plague
• Yellow Fever
• Typhoid
• Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers (Dengue, Crimean-Congo)
• Poliomyelitis
• Measles
• Meningitis
• COVID-19 (added recently)

A Head Nurse in a community or hospital setting must ensure timely disease notification to prevent outbreaks and protect community health.
