LSAT Syllabus Content
The LSAT does not test specific academic knowledge, but rather critical thinking skills. The content is broken down into three main sections:
- Logical Reasoning (LR): Evaluates your ability to analyze, critically evaluate, and complete arguments. This includes identifying assumptions, strengthening/weakening arguments, and identifying flaws.
- Reading Comprehension (RC): Measures the ability to read and understand long, complex materials similar to those used in law school. Focuses include main idea, supporting details, inferences, and tone.
- Analytical Reasoning (Logic Games): Tests the ability to understand a structure of relationships and draw logical conclusions about that structure. Note: LSAC is phasing this out for a new test structure, but it has been a core component.
Additional Component
- LSAT Argumentative Writing: A separate, 50-minute, remotely proctored, on-demand writing exam that is not scored but sent to law schools.
Key Details
- Authority: Law School Admission Council (LSAC).
- Scoring: Scored on a scale of 120–180.
- Format: Multiple-choice, remotely proctored
