The Restoration Period (1660–1700) saw the rise of Heroic Tragedy (also called Heroic Drama) — plays written in rhyming couplets featuring noble heroes torn between love and honour. Key examples include John Dryden's The Conquest of Granada and All for Love. The period also produced Restoration Comedy of Manners, but Heroic Tragedy was the distinctive new dramatic form.
