The period from approximately 1300–1650 in Europe is called The Renaissance (French for 'rebirth'). It marked a revival of interest in classical Greek and Roman culture, humanism, art, and learning. Originating in Italy (Petrarch, Boccaccio, Leonardo da Vinci), it spread across Europe. In England, the Renaissance roughly spans from Sir Thomas More and Spenser to John Milton.
