Assessment is the ongoing, continuous process of gathering information about students' understanding, interest, attention, and learning progress during instruction. It includes formal and informal techniques (observation, questioning, classroom activities). Evaluation is a broader judgement of worth/merit; measurement is quantification; examination is a formal, summative test. Assessment is the formative, moment-to-moment monitoring of student learning.
