The lecture method is widely criticised because: students are passive listeners; no immediate feedback is received from students; and individual differences in learning pace, style, and ability are ignored. 'Students' interest increases' is NOT a feature of the lecture method — in fact, prolonged lecturing typically decreases student interest and attention. The lecture method is teacher-centred and minimally engaging for diverse learners.
