Taxonomy (Greek: taxis = arrangement, nomos = law) is the systematic science of classifying and categorising things into ordered groups based on shared characteristics. In education, the most famous taxonomy is Bloom's Taxonomy (1956, revised 2001), which classifies cognitive learning objectives into six levels (remember, understand, apply, analyse, evaluate, create). Taxonomies provide a structured framework for educational planning, assessment design, and curriculum alignment.
