Loudness is the subjective perception of sound intensity. It is directly related to intensity — the power of sound waves per unit area (measured in W/m²). Loudness is measured in decibels (dB). While amplitude and intensity are related ($I \propto A^2$), intensity is the direct physical correlate of perceived loudness.
