A Minicomputer (minicomputer) is a medium-sized computer, smaller than a mainframe but larger and more powerful than a microcomputer (PC). Minicomputers emerged in the 1960s (e.g. DEC PDP series), supported multiple simultaneous users, and were used in scientific research and business. They were superseded by powerful workstations and servers.
