Basic Computer/IT QUESTION #11545
Question 1
The Central Processing Unit (CPU) consists of the Control Unit, Memory Unit, and:
  • Microprocessor Unit
  • Arithmetic / Logic Unit (ALU)✔️
  • Output Unit
  • ROM Unit
Correct Answer Explanation
The CPU comprises three main units: (1) Control Unit (CU) — fetches and decodes instructions; (2) Arithmetic/Logic Unit (ALU) — performs arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and logical (AND, OR, NOT) operations; and (3) Registers — temporary fast storage. Memory (RAM) is separate from the CPU.
