The ILOVEYOU virus/worm (released May 4, 2000) is considered the most damaging and widespread computer virus in history. It spread via email with subject 'ILOVEYOU' and infected 10% of internet-connected computers worldwide within 10 days, causing an estimated $10 billion in damages. It originated in the Philippines.
