HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) is the foundational protocol for data communication on the World Wide Web. It defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and how servers and browsers respond to commands. HTTPS adds SSL/TLS encryption for secure communication. HTTP uses port 80; HTTPS uses port 443.
