Lateral moraine is the ridge of rock debris (till) that accumulates along the sides (margins) of a valley glacier. It consists of material eroded from the valley walls by the glacier's movement. Medial moraine forms in the middle of a glacier where two glaciers merge. Ground moraine is deposited beneath the glacier.
