The Grand Banks is a series of underwater plateaus (continental shelves) located southeast of Newfoundland, Canada — in the northwestern North Atlantic Ocean, off the northeast coast of North America. It is one of the world's richest fishing grounds, where the cold Labrador Current meets the warm Gulf Stream, creating ideal conditions for marine life.
